Customised work that saves money
Geseke | Germany

Because the 26-year-old pumps were too weak, the Geseke sewage works wanted to replace them. But the order had a catch: the new pumps had to fit exactly on the installed pipe system.

New pumps are to be adapted precisely to the old pipe system.

Initial situation

The Geseke wastewater treatment plant was commissioned in 1988 and comprehensively renovated and expanded between 2012 and 2018. During the conversion and expansion phase, which lasted several years, the operator noticed that the existing pumps of the stormwater pumping station were becoming increasingly weaker. Replacing the old pumps was the obvious thing to do, but new piping for the entire system was out of the question for cost reasons.

Customer-oriented customisation

Alfred Kleu, Head of Sales Special Solutions HOMA, looked for a suitable solution for the customer. During an elaborate inspection of the shaft, he prepared the measurements for a precisely fitting adaptation. The new HOMA P424/19-G136/CS propeller pumps were to fit onto the existing pipe system and save the operator new, cost-intensive pipework.

According to the plan and under the supervision of Alfred Kleu and Michael Geistert, Wastewater Technology Field Sales, the existing pumps of type VUP 503 (Ritz-Atro / System Köster) were dismantled by the operator. For connection to the existing piping, the adapter rings were attached to the new pumps in the next step, then everything was inserted together into the shafts and later put into operation.

With this customer-oriented special solution, HOMA helped to save costs for the client and ensure the continued operation of the rainwater pumping station for decades.
